Our menu is based on the principles of the Greek cuisine, with a focus on high quality fresh meat. You will taste homelike comfort food, stove-cooked dishes, roasts, delicious appetizers and salads.
You can start with one of our freshly cut salads, such as the rocket/spinach salad with raisins and parmesan, our signature salad (Macedonian) with cabbage, carrot, pepper and celery or the lentils salad with tomato, feta cheese and olives.
The appetizers that stand out are the savory small cheese-pies with Karystos's local cheese (touloumotyri) – it is a "must"– as well as the feta cheese served with honey and the original pastourma pie, all of them made with homemade pastry. Moreover, our homemade meatballs with the 11 ingredients bring memories of the past and the spicy cheese spread will awaken your senses.
The specialty dish which has stood out through all these years and gave its name to the taverna is the classic beef stew ("vrasto"), which consists of beef, potatoes, carrots and celery in broth (consommé). You can also enjoy delicious authentic dishes, such as Giouvetsi (baked beef meat with barley-shaped pasta) and Pork in the pot, marinated with fresh herbs, honey and slow-cooked for over 4 hours. We also offer daily specials: on Sundays, we serve for lunch lamb fricassee, roast beef in tomato sauce with bucatini pasta, as well as beef with lemon sauce; on Thursdays, during winter, we serve "patsas" (a Greek traditional soup made with calf's foot) and on Wednesdays, Moscharokefali (veal cheek & tongue).
Last but not least, our freshly cut meat, always charcoal-grilled, holds an important place in the menu, mainly the beefburgers made with freshly minced beef, the herb-marinated tender pork fillet, the smoked pork steak, as well as the fulfilling T-bone steak.
If you like wine, you can accompany your meal with our house wine or you can select from our list of bottled Greek wines. If you are more into beer, we have a great selection to choose from.
The dessert is on the house and it is a semolina halva or a chocolate biscuit roll.
